In August 2005 we rented a room in the lighthouse keeper's quarters here. The only way down to the site is walking down the side of a cliff on a nearly vertical jeep trail. The views of Chignecto Bay and the Minas Basin are incredible and you feel really pinned in by the cliffs above you and water on three sides below. One of the buildings has a really good restaurant where they have two entree choices all prepared from scratch. Cape D'Or is run by some people from Saskatchewan. We were told that if you show up when the fog's in you won't sleep at all due to the fog horn blaring all night long.
Oh, and just getting there is great fun-it's seven miles on a muddy road that runs through deep woods along cliff tops. This place has an edge of the world feeling to it.
